Age discrimination?
I am 45 and I have been applying for IT positions with a persistant and determined pace. I have 20+ years in the industry and have a degree. I am finding that most major companies are not hiring above about the age of 35 for positions. I'm just curious if others are finding this to be true for them as well. It is getting very frustrating and I'm starting to lose hope.

Same here, it seems like i am "over qualified", and employers arent willing to pay me, what i'm worth. It feels like all my apps are intentionally being overlooked. The frustration is solidifying my intent to "Take back my STRAWMAN!" I Need access to my exemption account!

i just feel like people are hiring employees that can do the job for far less pay.

Has anyone of the companies you're applying to told you flat out that you are not a serious applicant because of your age? Probably not right? What are you basing this on? No one knows how or why employers make their hiring decisions. I say worry about the things you can control and don't sweat the small stuff. Why work anywhere you're not going to be appreciated for your talents rather than your age. You should go into your own business with all that experience. It only gets worse. I was about 45 when it became difficult for me to get employment. Try going through a "high end" temp agency. Company can see your work and hire permanent. I have 3 graduate degrees with honors, no criminal record and no job. One day at a time.
