Accounts receivable/ cash application/ B2B Collections/Customer Service/ Data Entry

Need help

Hi everyone. I am really struggling finding a full time job. I was at my previous job for almost 18 yrs I was laid off. That's what they told me.i was making good money. Being that I don't have an accounting degree. I found out they hired 1 person to do AP @ AR. I have 20 years experience as a AR Clerk and B2B Collections. They gave me my 4 weeks paid vacation and unemployed for 6 month. I got pretty luck because right when my unemployment went away. I got hired I was so happy. My boss was nice but she thought i wasn't the right fit. I was there for 90 days. She kept telling my that she didn't trust me and refused to train me on what the job entailed. All I did all day was releasing orders. I don't know what happened. I did make 2 mistakes but I was new and they did talk to me about it. I'm very confused my last day was Dec 5th 2018. I was shocked. She said. She didn't think I was a good fit and my filing was still not mastered. I didn't say anything and left. Im thinking to myself I was there for 90. I was always asking and taking notes. Maybe she didn't like me. That's crazy.. Well anyways I am doing what I can to put food on my table. I am doing odd jobs here and there like baby sitting and I'm trying schipt. Its better than nothing. I want to do what I am good at. I stay up till 2 or 3 in the morning to apply for jobs in all the web sites because they up load them at midnight. I am really frustrated I thought I was going to retire at my last job. I want to work but no one is giving me a chance. I just get calls from recruiters with lots of broken promises. I am going to take a excel class next month for free at the library because I only know basics. I am not picky I don't care what kind of company. Even working from home would be great. I am willing to work for 18 hr. I don't know what else to do. I'm running out of options. Because I collected uneployment last year they said I can probably apply next month because it will be a year I don't know if I collect unemployed from a job that I was only for 90 days. I don't have health insurance. I'm trying to get Medicare and nothing. I live in Illinois my zip is 60089. If there is anyone out there that can help get me a job I would really appreciate it. I'm tired of living like this. I pray every day that my time will come soon. Thanks for reading this Lisa

Account Receivables Manager at Motiva Enterprises Llc

Hello Lisa, I feel sorry for your situation. Unfortunately, it happened. There are lot of stories you read from other people similar to yours one way or the other. To expand possibility of your job search, you may have to look not only the location you are living. Also, tell your recruiters clearly that you are willing to relocate other locations. In addition, do not sell yourself too cheap. What you made previously should still be the pay range you are asking for. Otherwise, sometimes recruiters or hiring manager may think something is wrong with you. When you have an interview, please sugar coat your story and make it sound more positive. No hiring manager would like to hear crapy story. Believe me or not, there is a plenty of AR and credit job out there. Sometimes it is just the question where you are searching for your job. Did you set up a profile in linkedin? Did you try looking for job at career builder, glassdoor, monsterboard, hireable, ziprecruiter, ladders.com, etc? Let me know if there is anything I can help. But quite honestly, every company needs accounts receivable, accounts payable, and credit. Sometimes finding a job needs patience and luck. My former colleague has been searched for job for year and half now, and he is still looking. There are definitely bad employers out there. However, that is not a reason for losing hope. Good luck! Sam

YOU HAVE THE EXPERIENCE AND OBVIOUSLY, YOU WERE LET GO ON A FLIMSY REASON, IF YOU WERE REPLACED BY SOMEONE YOUNGER AND THAT PERSON IS DOING BOTH A/R AND A/P, CANCES ARE YOU WERE LET GO ON A DISCRIMINATORY BASIS-AGE. I GUARANTEE THAT, THEY ARE PAYING YOUR REPLACEMENT A LITLE LESS MONEY FOR DOING MORE WORK. THIS IS UNFORTUNATELY WHAT IS HAPPENING MORE OFTEN THAN YOU REALIZE. MAY I SUGGEST YOU CONTACT THE AARP-THEY CAN BE A WONDERFUL RESOURCE AND MAY BE ABLE TO GUIDE YOU IN THE RIGHT DIRECTION.. WEB SITE: AARP.ORG, YOU CAL ALSO SEND THEM EMAIL AT: askourexperts@aarp.org. AS TO TEMPING, YOU WILL BE TESTED ON EXCEL AND EVEN ON WORD AND ALSO, THEY MAY WANT TO SEE WHAT YOUR TYPING SKILLS ARE LIKE. I ENCOURAGE TO TAKE THE EXCEL COURSE AT THE LIBRARY. ASK THE PERSON CONDUCTING THE ONE DAY CLASS-IF SHE CAN PROVIDE ANY SUGGESTIONS ON HOW YOU CAN BRING YOURSELF UP TO SPEED USING MICROSOFT OFFICE SUITE/EXCEL. EXCEL IS NOT DIFFICULT UNTIL YOU GET TO THE PART OF WRITING FORMULAS AND NESTING FORMULAS. BUT DO NOT LET THIS SCARE YOU. I HAVE NOT MET ANYONE WHO IS AN EXPERT ON MS OFFICE SUITE-UNLESS THEY ARE A CONSULTANT WHO IS A PROGRAMMER.

DO BOTH-REGISTER WITH A TEMP AGENCY AND CONTACT THE AARP ORGANIZATION.

See about taking some classes to train. Even think about starting your own business. A friend has done this with fantastic results.
