Retired but not Tired

Retired army 2009. Recent issues: I was working full time. Industril fabrication shop. Welding , cutting steel parts, fabricating to blue prints, etc. I was hit by a car in July 2015, was off work for an entire year. Was denied disability. I guess a broken pelvis, left radius (arm), tibia, and femur on right leg, do not warrant disability benefits.
Anyway, I went back to work 8/2016. I had to have hardware removed from left wrist because thumb wouldnt bend anymore. The Occupational therapist at the Indy VAsaid no use of left arm for 4 months. My job fired me Nov. 23rd. Happy Thanksgiving , eh? lol. So, I'm lookin' for a job that doesnt required heavy lifting. I have complete use of right arm which is my dominant side. And limited use of left. I can move fingers, just not thumb. If any has any ides I'd greatly appreciate it. The sad thing is, is that this will be the 3rd Christmas in a row that I have been without a job. I always know when its Christmas. I'm off work. Thanks and best wishes to all. Peace.

Hello Pat, Often times the circumstances around disability are difficult. Anyone that applies for disability is often denied at least three to four times before it is awarded. I realize that this doesn't help much at this time. Check with Job Service in your area and see if you qualify for workers displacement. This could possible get you training for a job that doesn't require heavy lifting. Hang in there. I know how you feel because I am currently trying to make ends meet and looking for a job.
