Hi. I tried applying at Target about a month ago. They responded saying there were no available positions open. Should I wait another month to reapply or should I take a chance and talk to a hiring manager anyways?

Hi Pattie: We've also found that most retail stores allow you to re-apply every couple of months, so it might be worth asking a hiring manager when you can apply again. Plus, you're in a great spot for holiday hires - most places start amping up hiring in October. Best of luck!

I think talking to someone would be a great idea! You never know if something has become available and they will still have your application on file. Good luck!

Hi Pattie,
Target is hiring for their busy Christmas shopping season. Go to your store and ask the front desk to talk to the HR manager. Get their name if they aren't available and call into the office to speak with them. They should be able to place you on hold and look at your application. Ask them for an interview for their season temporary positions. If they say no, it's likely one of two things:
Your schedule or availability isn't in line with their needs. The HR person should be able to give you some feedback.
You didn't pass or score low on the pre-hire assessment. You need to ask the HR person for this information specifically. They won't voluntarily give this up. Your score prevents you from likely being hired and have to wait a certain amount of time to reapply and take the pre-hire test again.
I hope this is helpful in your efforts. I worked in the HR store role many years ago and have a number of friends who still work in those roles. The HR person is likely overwhelmed in trying to staff for the holiday season.
