This is probably a good reason why some companies do not separate their sick time from their annual leave time and just give PTO or Paid Time Off that just amounts to days you have accrued off, regardless of how you use them. I think the PTO time is a better system so that people can be honest about taking a day off without having to give an explanation.

It's lame to call in sick if you're not sick. You can always say you "have an appointment." That way, you're not lying.

I live in Southern Cal so reason B is basically saying telling your boss that UR going to the beach!

I think the first two reasons are good but the other two you would want to be a little subtle about it. you don't want to tell your boss you're going to be late because of a job interview, do you?

but I guess baseball is the lamest.
