Quitting without being a Quitter!

I’m currently in the retail business but I can’t stand it. I fold clothes all day and it gets boring. What entry level jobs pose a good alternative? Also...in my future interviews does quitting look bad on me? What do I say when they ask why I left?

I have just decided to quit my job at the Grocery Outlet. I could go into the reasons why, but the bottom line is that I was not treated very well. There is no shame in quitting a job if you feel that you can no longer perform your duties to the best of your ability. If it comes up in an interview, explain yourself as clearly and firmly as you can. Let them know that you felt that you could no longer provide the service that your job required.

Quitting correctly is important. Giving notice, and being reliable during your final two weeks is important. Not having another job lined up isn't negative.

I just resigned from a very established entity. I was making a good salary, the hours were great, but the people I had to work FOR, not always WITH, had an unacceptable attitude. I resigned, I didn't quit. I decided I was worth more than what they paid, because I felt like they were paying to abuse me. When it's time to move on, take a step of Faith and know that God has your best interests in mind. While I am looking, I know He's preparing the right job for me. Stay strong and BELIEVE in yourself and God.

I do think quitting looks bad if you do it before you find another job. When asked "why do you want to leave your currently employment" then saying "I want a challenge" is fine. Leaving a job before you have another does not look smart to a hiring manager and shows a lack of planning on your part.

Look into jobs with the National Park Service. Go to USAJobs for more information. In 10 years do you still want to be folding clothes?

Just tell them that you found a or is currently looking for a better job that best fits your lifestyle. Which in anyway shouldn't look bad, because your seeking a job that best fits you & that you enjoy. But don't quit until you find another job, so that being jobless won't be an issue. -hope I helped-

Some employers don't particularly care to consider prospective employees who have quit their jobs. Personally, I'd stay on the job until you find something that is a better fit. And I wouldn't just take another job because you need one. Who knows? That may take some time finding a good one and working while you're looking won't stress you out financially. And when you do find the right job and are asked why you want to leave, you still have a good answer. Good luck!
