Warehouse Worker with Experience

Hourly Warehouse worker not expecting too much pay but what about better benefits?

I realistically can’t expect to make an hourly wage exceedingly higher than minimum wage for a package handler or entry level warehouse job but what about affordable benefits. After my family of 3 health care deductions my paycheck is barely enough to cover bills. How am I supposed to get my family ahead! I enjoy my job and definitely see some growth potential but for until then things are extremely tight. Why don’t companies offer a better benefit package for employees with families and a bonus incentive for hourly employees so everyone reaps the rewards for meeting business goals.

benefits and pay for entry level positions are limited but once you get into the leadership roles you have a little more options and flexibility. Unions used to be better at making sure the benefits for all non-management employees was fair and useful but they're no longer as strong as they used to be.

Ask about flexible spending accounts for health related services. I use $500 every year that I get up front to cover any additional medical expenses and have a minimal monthly deduction from my pay to cover the balance. It's helps with prescription, labs work, and dr office visits.

Hard worker looking to learn!

Too much focus right now on the minimum wage increase to expand on benefits affordability options although I agree with your comment but I don't see more benefit investments after wage increases.

This is a really great question Alan! I hope we can get some good insight from other Jobcasers.
