Product Specialist - Technical Support

Recruiters and Networking

When I started looking for a new job, I made a mistake, I didn't take time to talk to the recruiters who were contacting me about contract positions. I didn't want to consider those jobs, so I just didn't take the time to talk to them. Maybe, if I had spent some time talking to them, just maybe, I might have found something sooner, or at least develop some good Networking Contacts.
Well, a few months into looking, I finally woke up and started talking to some of those recruiters. When I applied for jobs, every now and then, I would get an independent recruiter contact me. On some of those calls, after finding that I may not be the best fit for the position they were trying to fill, some of them asked if they could forward my information if they find something I might be a good fit for. Who says no to that? Why would you say no? Luckily, I didn't say no. Well, here's another problem, I can't find their information. I have misplaced it, and I'm hoping I didn't lose it completely. Why is this important? One day, as I'm packing our household goods, preparing to move to Florida, still without a job, I get an email from someone. He wants to talk to me about a job. I was a bit puzzled, as I did not remember applying for this position. I asked him more about the position. He thought it odd that I didn't know anything about a job that I applied for. Long story Short, it seems that shortly after he posted the job, it seems someone sent him my information. He said the job was posted for the Atlanta area. Well, I knew for sure I didn't apply for it, but it hit me, that one of the recruiters I talked to must have sent him my information.
I wish I could find my contact information, so I could contact those recruiters, because he didn't know who it was, and I never got a notice from anyone that they sent my information in. The moral of the story, take time to talk to those recruiters, even if you don't get the job they are trying to fill. You never know, you might wind up getting a call one day, out of the blue. I want to thank my mysterious recruiter, if it wasn't for them, I wouldn't be starting an awesome job with a GREAT company, Snap-on Industrial. I'm their new Product Specialist - Technical Support.

Oh, by the way, my last job, yup, a recruiter called me up, and it led to a great job, where I worked for almost 7 years. I only left so that we could move closer to family.
