Should I call, send an email?
A couple of Friday evenings ago I received a call requesting a phone interview. Immediately after the phone interview I was asked to come in for an interview the following Monday. It wasn't possible for me to make it on such short notice, but I did propose that I could come in on Tuesday. I made the interview on Tuesday and immediately afterwards was asked to return for a 2nd interview on Thursday of the same week. Being that I am unemployed with no income, making a second interview (50+ miles round trip) was a stretch, I agreed to it. In the meantime I was told that I would be emailed a "test" and that I could complete it online and either submit it there online or bring it to me at the second interview.
When I received the test it wasn't a test at all. It was an application and reference request. I filled out both promptly and returned them electronically. When I arrived for the second interview, it turns out that it was the "test" that I was supposed to be sent on Tuesday. It was simple enough but I only had 20 minutes to complete it and another document. I was told that the second document wasn't as important and that I would be emailed it to complete at home. That's it. Nothing else. I was told that my references would be checked, she verified that I was okay with the job location and possibly taking on more duties, and then I was told that a decision would be made this week.
I never received the second part of the "test" to complete. At this point I am left wondering what just happened? Would you call, email, or just wait until the time has elapse that was given to you concerning a decision.

I would definitely call Chris. Waiting for them to contact you, in a situation like this, can hurt your chances in more ways than one. They may have sent the email to an incorrect address, but think that you received it and are simply taking your sweet time to complete it. Finding out when and how you react to not receiving the "second" part of the test may be the test itself. Either way it is a good reason to call and possibly have an opportunity to chat some more with your interviewer. It will provide you the benefit of reinforcing to them how interested you are in the position, as well as bring you back to the front of their thoughts. They may be in the middle of deciding whether to move forward with you or another candidate, and this phone call to provide you the opportunity to convince them that you are the right person for the job. I just can't see a downside to calling. Besides, many employers appreciate tenacity.

Definitely call. And ask what email address they sent the "test" to.
And, check your SPAM folder. It could have gotten filtered there.

Call it shows diligence

Hey Chris, as a rule of thumb I always think : "never email when you can call, never call when you can meet in person". Suggest picking up the phone and checking in.... Also - keep on applying and interviewing while you wait. Lots of times things go south after an interview for reasons completely independent from you. Focus on the things you can control (following up, applying to other jobs, etc.) not things you can't (their actions with you). This will keep some control in your hands and hopefully help keep a better attitude in what can be a tiring process. Good luck, hope this helps... looking forward to what other jobcasers have to say too! Fred
They might still be evaluating candidates. Follow-up within a few days and check in on your status.
