Inquring minds want to know!
I would like to know if anyone has ever applied to a job ad posted on Craigslist or similar site with minimal details? The one I decided to do said "Urgent Hiring Immediately Management Opportunity" headlined with no detailed information about the job and a reply is usually via email with job# in subject.I attached a copy of my resume as they requested with an interest listing a brief outline on my email/cover letter with all my contact info listed. I got an immediate response stating "after reviewing your resume you would be a good candidate for this Management position". Gave me an address, said dress professionally and bring 2 copies of the resume and me or another colleague of mine will interview with you and it will be for 1 hour so prepare your day accordingly tomorrow at 9:45 am. Signed his name. Well it didn't have a company name and the address was in a high-rise tower suite 800 which listed 3 organizations at the address 1 of which I called and the number was not in service. I checked the person's name in Google and 1 person had that name who is a radio announcer, paranormal, talk radio public figure that has his own blog, website etc. He'd get a good plug if I mentioned his name due to he accepts people to join his personal live web showings. BUT this is not the guy. So I decided to email this person back as asking for his company name and his contact phone number due to I was preparing for my interview and need to know who I would be working for and unless it is a confidentiality/security issue iof some kind I underdstand however I need some feedback and will wait for your reply before I can commit to an interview with a company I know nothing about to see if I would be a good fit! What's going on here??? No company info, Gentlemens name is not certain, no phone number and a Craigslist ad. Seems a little creepy to me !!! Tell me what you are thinking........
Hi Carol, that sure sounds scammy to me! In my experience, no legit company would fail to mention their company name in their email or job listing! I would definitely be wary of this whole thing.
Here's a great list of clues that a craigslist job listing might be a scam: https://toughnickel.com/scams-fraud/Job-Hunting--10-Red-Flags-that-the-Job-Post-in-Craigs-List-may-be-a-Scam
I hope that's helpful!
