The waiting is killing me

I interviewed at a great company a month ago. The interviewer said they could have anywhere from 2 to 25 positions opening up. I think the session went well, and it ended by one of the team members telling me that I would hear something in two weeks. Well, a month passed and I finally contacted the recruiter, who contacted the HR department. One of their representatives called me today and said the wait was unusually long due to staff vacations and other commitments. She said I would hear from them in a weeks time with an offer or regrets. Is this a good sign?

Sometimes it takes time. I interviewed beginning of March and finally started end of April. It can be worth the wait. I have my dream career now. Hang in there!!

Hi Jean,

The truth is sometimes businesses get very BUSY especially during the summer time. Next time try following up that week with a thank you email or note. A month is a bit long to keep you on hold, but it's not uncommon. I would seek out other jobs in the meantime. Never allow yourself to stop searching until you have a letter of hire in your hands. If you look for other opportunities something better may come along and you also won't feel as disappointed should that other job not work out. I hope it does! Keep us posted.
