Moving up?
Ok so I have this great job that I really love and enjoy being the first point of contact to patients coming in. I verify insurance and I know other ways of getting my patients the information that would help in their visit. Well I am part of the new office opening and being trained in what is called NSO. ..I am older than most of my colleagues and I do go the extra mile for the opticians to enable them to have all the correct information plugged in the patient file. My problem is I do want to move up but I feel that I am leaving all this knowledge for checking in.and insurance calls..to this other colleagues that don't know some of the inside tricks for calling insurance companies and verifying benefits and helping to make sure the opticians have authorizations. benefits and eligibility of coverage etc ready and loaded up to the patient file before they even get to the opticians. I am told that when I am not there nothing is done the way I do it and they "know when I am not there ". I want to move up to a management position but I feel like I'm leaving the opticians with someone who is not experienced as myself and really not too vested in their work like I am. I feel as if I leave the front in someone else's hands who really cares less about the responsibilities. .that the colleagues will not have the same type of care for their work as to how I cared for making sure they have everything they need and then some. I know they would not have the level of service that I have been providing them since opening day. I feel like I am not going to get away from this area and learn other parts of the office to enable me to move up. I feel like I am abandoning them and I feel guilty if I was trying to be more on the sales floor and other areas I would like to know so I can move up. I really feel stuck at this part of my job and I won't be able to move up because they bring all questions and issues to me instead of the other persons who don't have the same work ethics as myself. How do I let go and basically allow them to sink or swim at the expectations of the colleagues who are used to me handling any and all problems and correcting those issues that are not done how "I" do them. Advice welcomed by all.

Teach the others to do as you do and stop worrying that they won't take you serious others that don't know how may appreciate your help and learning to give you the chance to move on up teaching others that skill is what you should thrive for . the more you help others shine the more it moves you forward it is called working together for the good of the company, the company is as only strong as some of it's weakest employees which you should flourish in helping .That is what make a good leader someone willing to work together. Together we stand divided we fall sound familiar???

How can i get this job because i dont have computer access

Don't hinder your growth. I can see why the opticians love you so much, you have good work ethic and advocate for patients, which is good. However, if you keep looking over shoulder to keep everyone in line then you will slow yourself down.
I recommend reading the book "Lean In" and taking the position ASAP. Good luck Elizabeth!
