I had one interview for an Administrative Assistant job right out of college where I could probably count on one hand the number of times I was allowed to speak.

The guy who interviewed me immediately went on a tirade about how important it was that I not take sick days to go see Bruins games because he WILL find out when I post the pictures on social media. He also had a number of gripes and warnings that I thought were oddly specific and probably had something to do with the person who had this position before.

He closed out the interview with a long explanation of how he has a box in his office for the day he gets laid off, and if he does, that I would take some of the responsibility for that.

The whole time I tried to be agreeable, tried to assure him that I would always do my best to support him (and I've never even been to a Bruins game), but he kept on butting back in with an "AND ANOTHER THING" type rant about all the things I shouldn't do. By the time he got to the speech about the box in his office I was about ready to make a run for it.

I was relieved not to be called back for another interview.

5 years ago I interviewed with a big retailer for a sales position. Passed the personality test then met with the department manager who asked me a few standard questions. Told me about pay rate and hours then gave me a job offer on the spot. Halfway home I received an email from the that company stating they were going in another direction.
