Whats funny about managing a Pizza Hut, I would hire a young manager in a milli=second for an idividual that can run a pizza hut, PH gets wicked busy and you really do learn how to multi-task big time, pressure under time constraints - You are a management allstar, perhaps they laughed because they just realized that they themselves did not posses that level of skill and intestinal fortitude. Honesty though why the laugh? I am not sure I get it completely, but PH is like paris island and every job after that will be a walk in the park.

Ray, you may have been laughed at unjustly but learn to be TEFLON LIKE and then laugh with people not at people. It hurts to be laughed at. Learn to be TEFLON and smile and be proud of who you are and what you can accomplish. Surprise yourself. We are all with you. We support you.

Sometimes Ray the new employer may be in fear of you learning the new job too well. You did arrive at this job with so much experience that your new employer may be in feat of you taking over his job. You are a true refreshing person and an employer sometimes gets a new type of employee that frightens the employer enough to be in fear of losing the very job he has. Just take it slow, one day at a time and re-learn the job in your head. Just do the job to be done the right way as you mentioned you wanted to learn doing the job the proper way. Then you are doing the job the proper way. Don't let on to your employer what you are working on in your head. After a while you will be noticed as the good and competant employee. The boss may even make good comments on your work ethic and you may even be noticed as the most improved employee in your department. Watch your fellow employees and compare your work to theirs. You can always learn new things and combine new things with your work to make an extra ordinary finished product whether it be tangible or personal knowledge you just gained. Either way you do it it is a good finished product. Be proud of what you just completed. Sometimes you have to make sure the boss sees your good work. Don't be too hard on yourself. Give yourself some slack. A new job isn't going to be perfect no matter what you do. We know you know how to be self satisfied with yourself but the new boss doesn't. Maybe you can teach the new boss something about yourself and earn the bosses' respect. You should have been taught the proper way but now you know you can learn the job to be done the proper way and outshine everyone else there. Go for it Ray.

I went to A Macys to apply for a job on the sells floor and since I worked for a chain store that did only shoes I iask the recruiter at the job fair how to get into the department management. This was a 20-year-old kid , he gave me this long drawn out speech about how they recruit from the best colleges etc.Like my, 5 years on the sales floor and 10 years in management didn't mean anything. I have a very healthy hate for retail. It was 15 year earlier that I was told that companies wanted some college to go into management.Before that in this country you could start in the mail room or stock room and work your way up. I do believe this change was because more minorities and women started coming into the workforce.Now that we have internet college they are trying to change it back so they can pay less for entry level

ray the world is filled with evil people that will put down your achievements and they are to be pitied . they are soul less creatures that get off on other peoples lives . they do not do anything themselves but sit on their butts and judge people that are doing things out there . I know many recruiters and they will tell you if they are honest that the weeder outer people such as job screeners are the employers lap dogs in many cases , unless you get a placement agency that gets a percentage of your first year salary , then they will work for you , butt this is rare . managing any business right is a tough thing to do . believe in yourself and forget the jealous and ignorant people you meet along the way , as Mother Tersea said it is not between you and them any way it is between you and GOD . strive on . I only have a 6 th grade formal lower school training , yet I got my GED , I have 5 masters degrees and have been to Law school . do not let anyone tell you you cannot achieve what you want , just tell them to watch your dust . I also have my own Tax Business . Believe in yourself even if no one else does , and you will succeed . Good luck .
