How do I recover my wages ? Lost n broke truck driving father of 6 needs help I'm on the verge of loosing everything please help me

Ty Hitman I'm thinking part of the settlement is characterized as lost wages (reported on W-2), while the remaining portion is compensatory damages ... Usually, all a 1099 means is that your taxes are not taken out of you're a paycheck for you, and your income is not reported to the IRS. You are responsible for reporting your income, and paying your taxes. But check with MyEmploymentLawyer.com Legal Advice › Employment › Advice.

Hi there, Ty Hitman! I hope you are doing well. I would suggest that if you have Catholic Charities or a local free non-profit governmental agencies in your area that you reach to them. Most of the times these charities can help you with rent, late payments on light and electric bills. So look into that and see how that goes for you. Hope things get better for you!

Hi Ty Hitman , based on your sense of urgency I think your best best would be to hire a lawyer that specializes in back pay recovery. I'm sure your city/state has legal aid services you can qualify for to help you through this process.
The reason for this suggestion is because the wage recovery process takes time; a lot of time! You shouldn't pursue these type of claims in an attempt to resolve immediate debt and/or financial responsibilities. Your lawyer will be better equipped to offer you more advice on this matter however.
Another option is to file a claim with the Department of Labor Wage & Hour Division. Their website is also full of helpful information and items you need to know when filing a claim of this nature.
I'll add the link below for your convenience. Best of Luck Ty Hitman https://www.dol.gov
Do you have any records of the work you did??
