Anyone in the IT or Cyber Security field, can tell me how to spot job scams? I am in the IT field and major in Digital Forensics but I am not an expert in Cyber Security yet. That is the field that I am trying to get in. Also can you get job scam on this site? I am just wondering because couple of weeks ago on August 4, I was contact by a person on here through the message saying send my resume to this person. He said look him up on google hangout. I was curious and when search for that person, there were no such user under that name. I don't if it was smart of me to send him saying there no users under that name. He responded saying send my resume to him. The person didn't ask for money but I don't know if that company or person is real or not. Are there any other traits that are job scams. I know the common one is asking for money or wiring money.

Hi Justin, Google hangouts is definitely one way that scammers try to get you. It seems they are popping up more and more frequently. We do our best to catch any we see and remove them as soon as possible. If you do get messages like this in the future, please let us know about it by emailing us at info@jobcase.com
Another common way for them to scam you is to say they will send you money to get the supplies you need to work from home. NEVER accept money for a job before you've done any work. We also see a lot of people who talk about putting some advertisement wraps on your car to earn money, which is another scam.
Hope this helps!
Update on this, when I said I couldn't find the person on Google Hangouts, well I did find the person but has no picture and I am not sure if that a job scam but I didn't send my resume. I even searched the person who contacted me and I found him on Google Hangouts and he has a picture. I still didn't send my resume because I can't tell if this is a scam or not. The email looks to be legit but I know there could be email that looks legit but is really a scam. I can't tell if its a scam or a cat fisher posing as an HR.
