Discouraged
Took time out of my work life to get married and start a family. Now, five kids and a dream house later, I have to go back to work. I have been filling out applications and sending out resumes daily with no success. I believe it's because I haven't had a job in over ten years so I look horrible on paper. Any ideas in the metro Detroit area?

Hi Michelle:
Thanks for posting to Jobcase!
I understand your predicament. It's so frustrating, especially since being a stay-at-home mom is probably one of the toughest jobs in the world - but employers tend to gloss over all of your hard work. That's why you can use your Jobcase profile to play with your resume so that your strongest skills stand out first. If you haven't worked in awhile, you can highlight your volunteering, skills, or praises first, so employers won't pass you by.
Just go to your Profile Page (My Info) and click on the "Rearrange Button". From there, you can choose what goes on your resume first.
Let me know if you have any questions - and keep hanging in there!
