the only sinner I know is me ...

Just recently, I was laid off 8 week ago from a large aircraft manufacturing company after 25 plus years. I have applied for numerous jobs and positions in the aerospace industry and have been interacting over 25 with HR rep, talent coordinators and recruiters. In my last preliminary interview for a job with a recruiter, I performed badly by complaining and blaming others for my failure to get a job in the past 8 weeks. I unnecessary whine, moaned and groan and took my frustrations on a recruiter that was trying to help me. My mistake was compound by lack of empathy for these recruiters whom were trying to help me getting a job in the UAV world. During the interview over the phone, my wife was present and immediately after the phone conversation was over, my wife stated that I sounded pitifully, self-righteous and sanctimonious to a recruiter that was trying to help. Five minutes pasted, another recruited called and stated the same thing my wife had expressed to me. These recruiters were doing their job. They doing their best to help me. They are not jerks, or mean people. The only person that acted like a jerk was me and my lack of empathy. I apologist for my rude conduct and very sorry in taking out my plight on an innocent person My response should have been asking for the responsibilities and duties of this position and thank them

Edward,

It is easy in the midst of the job search to lose sight of the goal and a those who are attempting to help us. Frustration at the process and the rejections can quickly wear anyone down.

I am grateful for your candor and hope that your experience is a lesson that can be learned without having to be experienced by others.

For all the technology that gets in the way finding a job still comes down to human interaction.

Thank you again for the lesson and reminder and I wish you all the best in finding your dream job again.
