Went on my interview. :-( Aren't there any CNA jobs out there that don't BEGIN at 7a.m.?? How about 8a.m.? Afternoons and mid nights are not an option for me, because I'm a single parent. I was told during the interview, that the nursing field was designed for women who aren't married, are without children and for women who aren't very attractive; so that they can devote themselves to the nursing industry. I haven''t worked this hard to get this far for some person to tell me that! Any ideas??
Well, I don't know much about the nursing field but I don't think that is true. I think it's like any job being a single parent, there are some hardships. Possibly if you are offered a job you could ask to make your schedule so it would b easier to get your children to school, daycare, etc. I think a lot of employers are willing to work with employees on that as long as you give them 100% when you are at work.
Is the adverse reaction to 7 am because you don't like it or because it does make child care a problem for you? Personally, I hate starting work at 8 am because it means you are working at least until 5 pm but if that's what the job calls for, that's what it calls for.
If that place isn't a good fit for you, keep looking.
6:30-7:00 is standard shift change in most all healthcare facilities unless you negotiate different shift times. However, thete are some facilities which do offer "Mom Hours" - M-F, 8-5.
