How many years of experience do I need to qualifiy for a Customer Service Representative job?

My opinion, your years of Customer Service will always follow you, but it truly depends on what the requirements are for the position.

None, just a will to learn and help people.

1-2 years...for customer service.

You don't usually need any experience at all, but you do need skills. You need to practice active listening. You need to be able to keep very calm, even when customers are very upset. And, you need to know how to de-escalate angry customers. You need to know how to type fairly fast on a keyboard, do 10-key by touch, and be able to type, talk, listen, and think, all at the same time. Your documentation of the call needs to be concise and be directly related to the reason/s for the call. You need to correctly address the customer's reason/s why they call in, and you need to learn fast how to control the call so that it stays within reasonable call-times, rather than making it become something that isn't professional. They will train you on their CRM systems and any other back-office systems which are essential to your job. And, you do need to stay in an auto-in mode so that you don't have downtime between calls. Be professional, courteous, and caring. When there are no calls coming in, use your time wisely to study the products, services, company policies and procedures, and various functions of the systems which the company is authorizing you to use. Never search the internet for any unrelated reasons whatsoever! You are on the clock, so be on the clock, fully checked-in mentally and emotionally!

Typically, Customer Service Representative positions require 1-2 years of relevant experience. However, some companies may hire candidates with less experience if they have strong communication skills and a customer-focused mindset. You can find Customer Service Representative job listings on websites like Jobcase, Indeed, LinkedIn, and Glassdoor.
In many customer service jobs there is no experience required. In fact, many frfr training for that particular position in that company. But, in other jobs at least one to two years of experience is required and salary and wages increase due to prior experience in the customer service sector.
