Moved to Chicago 9/7/2017 still no job
I moved to Chicago recently to be closer to my family. I have been looking for a job as an HR Coordinator and trying to expand on my 1-year experience in recruiting, and onboarding. Most of my jobs in SF were with temporary agencies, and my low was $25 per hour, and what they usually paid me. (Very low in San Francisco, but I made it work). I have a few questions. 1) What should my low be here in Chicago if I use a temporary agency in Chicago? I have 7 years’ experience in HR, in benefits, onboarding/offboarding, recruiting, employee records management, and more. 2) Could the fact that my last 3 jobs I held where contracts be deterring employers from contacting me? 3) Or could it be that some employers might not think that I in Chicago since my last job was in San Francisco? I am also noticing that the recruiting companies here are not like San Francisco or the bay area, (really nothing here is like the Bay Area). They are extremely non-responsive.

Wade, I saw numerous HR positions in my email today and on INDEED. I will send you information tomorrow. I hate going through agencies... But, if I have those leads I will send them. I feel Chicago underpays employees period!! It doesn't cover the cost of living or paying back loans? Rosemont , pays better...

You'll find something, and every region is different. Have you checked temp agencies. You should see if there are specific HR agencies that only hire HR reps. I'm sure you'll find something! Be blessed!

That's bad everybody hiring but still no one hiring I put in so many applications still no calls no interviews no nothing that's bad when I was on lacrosse I did a application and was hired the next day maybe I need to go back and get me a job there

Wade, I am from Chicago and have lived here most of my life. We are a very politically driven city. In SF there are many startups and growth opportunities. This provides a great environment for HR. Here we have very little tech. HR and recruiting is primarily done through word of mouth and is more based on who you know not what you know. Your fees should remain the same. Your best bet to connect with someone who has the mind set you are looking for and are used to is at the University of Chicago. There may also be something in financial area board of trade or the merc. Companies are more likely to leave here than stay basically because of both our state government issues as well as local problems in the city. Network your tail off and try to connect with someone who knows someone. You could start some sort of consulting business where you can teach recruiting companies how to respond properly. Hit me up if you want to discuss anything. wbarr22@gmail.com

Chicago is weird, some companies don't follow up, is Good in CA still have manners, I think your low could be 20 no less but 25 I think for your experiencie is Good, Contracted jobs should not be a down side for your hiring. Good luck, best regards
