Getting older?

I’ve been working in a warehouse for just over 10 years… and things that I found easy 10 years ago, are now increasingly difficult (building pallets, driving a forklift for 6 hours a day, lifting 50lbs boxes regularly). When I asked my boss about potentially transferring to the logistics/office side of things, I have been told that it won’t happen this year, but it might happen next. We started having that conversation 3 years ago. This company has been great, but I think that I’m now just too old to hang out with all the other “office folk” who are in their early 20s. I can’t keep doing what I’m doing, or my body just is going to stop working (I wear a back brace, knee support, and Aleve is my go to on long day). How can I bridge the office age gap in order to make myself a viable candidate?

Put together a plan with your boss for transition to an office job. It will keep you both accountable. I don’t think age is a factor here, but maybe lack of organizatio

In my opinion the young folks in the office don’t know anything. If you’ve been there for 10 years, your experience should speak louder than your age.

Hi Luis, I think you’ve found the end of your rope at the company you are working for. Basically, in the last 3 years, you’ve asked and haven’t seen a change. Think of yourself and your future. Want to be able to walk and chase after your grandchildren? Maybe it’s time to find a different company who will give you that office logistics job from the get go.
