Aleah...I have seen postings for New grad positions in California. Don't know where you are living or if willing to move, but Maxim Health Care has school nurse positions for new grads. Not the same as in-patient, but very rewarding and you can learn a lot about Pediatric medicine.

I think you can volunteer at hospitals to get experience,

I used to volunteer reading to children at the Boston Medical Center. On thanksgiving, I also went to send food to inpatients.

If you can spare 3 - 6 hours a week afterschool or on the weekend, they will take you. Also, since you are a nursing student, you might be able to get a job directly with the hospital after a couple of months of volunteering.

A lot of places will work with you while you are still in school.
