Hello Andrew - Two thumbs way up on your lion and your picture! Who has not felt like they are drowning in paper even these days? I must agree with Alyssa, with the caveat that a cover letter today should be to the point - three very brief paragraphs: 1) an intro of who you are, how you heard of the position and why you are interested in the position; 2) why you are impressed with the company and believe that you may make a great fit for both the company and the position - 2 or 3 sentences that make your points with a punch, and 3) you are attaching your current resume for consideration and will call by (for example) Tuesday, (provide date and be sure to keep it!). This is professional advice given to me in 2016.

Hi Andrew, I think a lot of people still read cover letters. They can be great because it gives you a chance to introduce yourself and let them know why you would be great for the job. I've even seen some job descriptions ask for a resume and a cover letter. I do think it also depends on the job. I say keep going with it!!
