Injured/ not injured on the job

Hello all. Does anyone have an idea if the following is work related? Your employer forces you to mandatory hold over, after your 8 hours, since the relief employee called in sick ? For 4 hours more max This is a 24/7 operating. You stay working it, cause supposly it's company policy, and you end up going home, all tiered, end up hitting another car on the freeway. Can you sue your employer? I live in California.

I don't think so. You could have just pulled over and taken a nap. Driving tired is just about as bad as driving drunk and you can get ticketed for that.
