I have conductive hearing loss in both ears, I've been applying for jobs that I know I am skilled to do. I can hear really well on the phone, but can't hear a deep voice or someone speaking quietly, in oerson. I have explained to every employer my hearing aids will be here in 3 weeks. While none of them admit to not hiring me because of my hearing they still go with another candidate. Any suggestions on what I can say or do?

Hi San: Thanks for posting to Jobcase! The best advice I've heard about applying for jobs when you have a disability is to proactively show how you would be able to do the tasks required, even with your disability. It seems as though you're not getting the chance to show employers what you can do because you don't have your hearing aids yet. That's why I think you should work on identifying the best jobs to apply for and then wait till you have your new hearing aids to pursue interviews. Hope this advice helps!
