John, I think in order to be a successful sales person, you have to be extremely driven. Sales people hear the word "no" quite a bit and have to be able to continue moving forward without losing steam. Sales people need to have excellent communication skills, after all, they are the voice of the product! Empathy, this is important in order to be able to of identify with customers, making them feel respected and showing a sense of loyalty towards them. A salesperson who is empathetic tends to gain more trust and builds a better rapport with the customers.

Work well under pressure, listen well (good communication skills), comfortable talking about money, and must be able to overcome objections. I think it’s good that you're asking these questions and exploring if you're a good fit because most people jump to sales jobs for the money and that’s a mistake.
