There's a lot of biotech in San Diego, so your odds of landing a job would theoretically be greater if you were there, however San Diego is very expensive and you're going to need a car to get around, and there might be more applicants for jobs than there are positions available. I grew up in San Diego - went to Mount Carmel High School in Rancho Penasquitos by Black Mountain, and my friend went to SDSU and not only got a master's degree in electrical engineering but also got straight A's and still couldn't get a job at Qualcomm. My former girlfriend was the valedictorian at her high school, also got straight A's in college - first at Miramar, then UCSD, and got rejected from every medical school she applied to - except one. It's absolutely brutal - even for the best of the top performers.

Hi John, Find out what's available in the industry, Where are the greatest resource needs, Recognize then customize those needs to your strengths then search, apply, and network.
