Never been so anxious
I have a pre existing condition and work as a catering manager in a BBQ join which also functions as a gift shop/gas station so there is a lot of foot traffic all day every day. I was fortunate enough to work from home since the end of March but have now been told I am needed back at work. I was told I would be given the exemptions of working with the general public and could help with phones, orders and keeping things running smooth behind the scenes. I just completed my 3rd day and was told that I will be needed to work with the general public when it gets busy. The whole point of me working from home and then working in a confined space upon my return was for my vulnerability to be protected. I either say yes or get laid off. If I get laid off I take the risk of not being able to receive unemployment, my husband has been waiting on his to come in since mid March, we can't afford for us both to be without income...I am kinda freaking out!
That's a really tough situation Nicole, and it's perfectly reasonable to be anxious. I am not an unemployment expert so I can't tell you what the state would decide if you chose not to keep working, but regardless, it will boil down to what you're most comfortable with. Have you seen this article called Do I HAVE to take the job?. While no one can make the choice for you, it does break down the process. There's also the option of looking for remote work too. Just a thought. Be well and keep us posted!
