Healthcare

I'm 60 yrs old and never had a problem getting a job. I'm a registered nurse and employers are calling me. Get training in the healthcare field and you will never be without a job.

Childcare also is a field in need except it doesn't pay as well. Daycare, ECE degress, 2 years and 4 years and even Masters. If you have a Bachelors or Masters in ECE you will always have a job.

Registered Nurse at Arden Courts Of Yardley

Hi Charlene. I'm a RN in PA and I'm 55 years old. I'm currently unemployed. For every 20 resumes I send out, I get one phone call. I've had two interviews in three months. I'm on LinkedIn and people can see that I'm older. My unemployment will run out in two months, and I am scared. Like everyone else, I have bills to pay. I've spent many sleepless nights worrying. I've applied to positions in a non-clinical setting. I've taken Case Management courses to obtain a certificate. No one will hire without experience, so I'll never get CCM certified. I have all the qualifications for every position that I've applied for, and nothing. I have a BSN degree and some graduate school courses for a nursing education certificate. I have been a nurse for 19 years. I never thought I'd be an unemployed nurse at my age! It is tough out there. Everyone is looking for young nurses. I'd love to hear any suggestions that you have. Thank you!

Medical Office Professional

Charlene, I have training in Healthcare administration and I have a BS degree in Healthcare administration and a Masters degree in Healthcare Informatics and working on doctrine in Organizational Leadership with a focus on Healthcare administration and still no job. I am 58 and I am so tired of employers calling me for interviews just to tell me I am over qualified for the position. They received my resume in advance and I list all education but still they waste my time. It is so depressing to even get dressed anymore for the interview. I am going through some medical issues right now and I don't even look anymore because I don't want to give them other reasons to not hire me. One problem in the workplace now is most manager or people in positions to hire are young enough to be my children. I am willing to accept a job in a entry level but I have more experience and education than the person hiring for the position. You figure it out, many times people don't want to hire someone who is capable of taking their job. I just want to make a living and take care of myself, not take someone's job. I was told for many years I didn't have enough experience or education, hell now I have to much. Damn if I do and damn if I don't!!! I just keep praying for an answer.
