Be careful with Home Based Jobs...
There are a ton of scams going around about home-based-jobs. We have fraud detection teams here to help keep those off of Jobcase, but like any risk-management practices - we can't catch everything. We are working on a home-based-job resource to help verify authenticity but this won't be ready till the Fall.
In the meantime - BE CAREFUL. The latest iteration is about personal-assistant positions from home.
We'll keep working to identify and filter them out of our cool community - but main rule of thumb is what my Mom taught me when I was in grade school "if its too good to be true, it is!". ask questions - be protective of your information, and NEVER give them bank accounts or SSN.
Update:
some easy tells for thinking its a scam
- their profile isn't filled out
- they ask you to contact them outside of jobcase but it is NOT a company address (and companyName@gmail. is not a company address fyi)
- they ask you for personal info like SSN and bank info upfront
- they ask you to buy demo products or ask you to pay them in order to get the job (though it won't be stated so clearly)
Thank you for addressing this, Fred! I would also like to add that people should please (please!) not post their personal information in the community. Opportunistic scammers and spammers can easily get a hold of your details if you share them openly in a public forum. Be very selective about who you share your personal information with!
