Desperate…Need Advice!

Guys I don’t know what to do… I’ve been unemployed for over a month after getting laid off from my previous job unexpectedly. I’ve been applying to places like crazy and have only just started to get calls and interest. I had one day this week where I had three interviews in one day!

In one of those interviews I was basically offered the job by the CEO, however he refused to let me know how much the job pays before I accept. He says he doesn’t want people to just accept the job because of the money, but my perspective is I need to know if the job pays enough for me to make my bills.

I also looked around the office and it did not look great. People looked miserable and the facilities were dirty. It’s not my top choice… At this point, though, I’m getting desperate. I don’t have much of a safety net and I need something soon. Should I take this job and hope for something else down the line or turn it down and hope that one of my other interviews works out?

What kind of job? What kind of hiring manager won't be upfront about salary? Miserable looking employees, a dirty office...nice. I hope this facility has nothing to do with health care. I say, if you can survive on unemployment for a bit longer, don't take that job. It does take time to get re-hired in a position that is a fit for you and that you'll enjoy.

Take the job and keep interviewing elsewhere. Once you find something better, leave.

Being miserable sucks regardless of the paycheck - I would see if anything else comes around - if the CEO offers the job there is a problem somewhere just my observation

I was once in your position, the advice that I have for you is go with your gut. The fact that you described the place means you felt uncomfortable. Its better to start with a place that you want to be at...you will not have to take days off of the new gig in search of another one. Good luck

I think you should trust your instincts and not rush into a bad work situation out of desperation.
