I love everything about video games, and I really want to turn my passion into a career. But my parents think that you can’t make a career out of video games. I want to prove them wrong! Lol Does anyone have any advice on getting into the gaming industry?

I would highly recommend you research the gaming companies out there. Blizzard Entertainment comes to mind off the top of my head.
What most people do not realize about video games is all the industries that are integrated so you can grab a controller and play the game in question. Graphic arts, music and film making are all parts of how a video game comes to life as well as game testers. I left out I.T. because that is the field I am in but the truth is I.T. touches everything.
I'd also look into virtual environment creation if I were you. There are some very cool things beyond games that are being created. One of those is creating medical simulations for things like the neuroscience fields.
Oh and if your parents still do not think you cannot make a living in the video game world it is a mutliBILLION dollar industry.

I don't have any advice, Alex, but I will say that you CAN make a career out of it! My husband is a gamer and I recently learned from him that there are people that make money just playing video games! But there is also the development of them you could try.
Oh, actually, I would recommend trying to find a job as a QA tester. You would basically be playing the video games to find the bugs. I hear it can be a little annoying, but it's a great way to break into the industry!
Find a job description for a position you'd like to have and update your resume to show relative experience, training, and qualifications. Create or update your visual portfolio then visit company career sites to search for job openings.
