Problem with following up

I see so much advice about how you should visit an employer if you want to get an update on your application status. But what happens if you don’t have the time to do it? I live in Houston, and just getting across the city in the middle of the day eats up so much of my time.

I just may be the droid you are looking for.

Make a point to ask the HM which method they prefer (email or phone) for follow-up. Ask for a biz card if you can. Send a short "thank you" email for the interview and then follow up in a week or so if you haven't heard anything.

You can always call, or send an email, to express your interest! Best of luck!

I recommend following up with only those opportunities that where your background fits perfectly. Even then, I would make sure that you have the right contact, perhaps a hiring manager who you should try speaking with prior to going there. I have seen that if companies are interested in you, they do call you. Remember that all hiring managers are not seeing resumes either.

Go to bed early and get up with chickens and be sitting out front when they open for work...you deductive reasoning. Time Management...now hire me. I am on time for work! If you really want that job.

Hi Richard, try following up with the people you feel strongest about. Give them a courtesy and set a time. As far as everyone else, send them an email . By the time you have visited the ones you feel strongest about got see the other. Although I probably would not bother if the emails have not been replied too.

Have you tried calling the employer first? I’d do that before investing time in a face-to-face visit.
