Resume Help!

Hi! If I’m preparing a resume for an interview, but don’t have a lot of experience in that field (I have experience in other stuff) how do I make my resume look good and filled out without seeming irrelevant to the job I’m applying for?

Hi Andre, In addition of your skills and knowledge, make sure you say what education you have. Mention some of the classes you took this normally can help because it shows other knowledge you have besides work experience. Good luck!

Do your name in larger bold font at top middle of page. Solid line underneath your name. Then your address phone number and email address.

Couple of spaces. Middle of page type the words "Professional Summary" Type all your life work every job you done paid or not. Keep it smooth in transitioning from job to job show how employers have given you trust and responsibilities and titles. It's like a thesis report or your story, Keep it 11 or 12 paragraphs long.

Now list skills which is summary to the summary for instance. Licensed forklift driver Head of shipping department Report writing/ blue print reading ..

And then Work history. Date from and until Name of place and address Licensed materials handler. And duties .

I hope this helps It will not allow me to attach a picture of this style resume but this is the recommended style for a military job vacancy and I just use this style resume in every day world as well.

Good luck.

Sincerely, Mike

REMEMBER volunteering DOES count. Also, look at templates people made in your area of field. It generally helps to follow their format.

I would suggest being confident in your abilities. Research the position and company you are seeking employment with. Be knowledgeable of their needs. Your resume is your first impression.

Hi Andre:

Thanks for posting to Jobcase!

You're in luck - Jobcase makes it super easy to create a resume that highlights some of your other great skills. If you go into your profile, you'll see that you can rearrange your resume based on what you want employers to see first. For example, if you don't have a lot of work history but you have the perfect skills for a job you want, you can highlight that first.

Ultimately, your resume should show your employers how you can solve their problems. Show your skills, your personality, and why you're a great fit for the job. Your work history only adds to your story - it shouldn't be the WHOLE story.

Hope this helps!
