Working with Depression

I am a 35 year old woman that's been dealing with depression for quite some time now and it's really starting to affect my work. I love people but when it come to work I just want my work and I don't want call or interact with no one on the phone or face to face. I have moments of isolation but I need to work. What kind of job would be best for me? I also love to create and design things and I'm well organized. I've worked in retail, credentialing, payroll, in a computer lab, health care, fingerprinting, H.R and over 15years of customer service experience.

Depression can really take a toll, believe me I know it all to well. Are you taking any medication? Thing is, if you are depressed nothing is gong to make you happy. Matter of fact things you should enjoy or used to enjoy you can't. I would suggest seeing a doctor first. Things will start to feel better.

Hi Monica: I have a close family member who has depression and generalized anxiety, and it's definitely a struggle. I think the thing is to focus on two things: a) make sure you have the best support system at home, whether that means coming home to a loving and understanding family or hobbies that give you meaning, and b) forming a great relationship with a manager or mentor in your office who can act as your advocate. The first step is about making sure that you avoid sinking into that isolation that's so common with depression; the second is to make sure that someone in the office has your back when you're not doing so well. That's just my two cents!
