Not hispanic or latino

Why do they do this? To make sure they don't hire any Latinos. I'm Puerto Rican but when I fill out applications I never get a call back. Now I put white and what do you know I get a call back. I guess you have to lie to get the job. Thanks America I'm so proud.

Isn't it better to have that knowledge upfront? Why would you want to work for someone who feels that way and most likely shows it in their treatment of Latinos on the job. Actually why would you want to work for anyone else? Start your own company. Hire only Latinos. The best way to stick it to those that hate is to live better than they do. Nuff Said!

Steven -

I really dislike having to answer these questions as well. For me, I always choose "two or more races" which is true, but somehow I still feel that this survey is set in place just to discriminate regardless of laws. It's frustrating.

Since you answered "white" which led to the callbacks, observe how you're treated during the interview when you show up. I hope it goes well but these days you just never know.

You only make it worse having that sort of thought process perhaps a reason why they do that as for equal opportunities

There are 2 reasons for this:

  1. There is a emphasis on Latino and Hispanic people because of the number of illegal aliens from Spanish speaking countries such as Mexico, Central and South America.

  2. They do not consider Hispanics white but there is no other classification. It would be so much easier to put Hispanic just like they do for Blacks, Native Americans.

It's stupid, but since you are an American citizen with all the rights and privileges, I would choose "Other" if it is allowed.

The Federal government requires that employers ask that question. Employers may legitimately need information about their employees or applicants race for affirmative action purposes and/or to track applicant flow.
