Wrongfully fired

So I was working for A costa family McDonalds and I was the opening manager in training. We are currently going through a remodel and when I opened a few weeks ago at 4 in the morning it was raining. Well the tarp that was on our roof apparently blew off and so it was leaking inside of the store everywhere. I noticed that water was getting into the electrical sockets so I got a hold of my GM Jennifer. I told her that it was an unsafe condition for not only me to work but for the rest of my crew. She completely ignored me and my feelings about the dangerous situation. After she got to McDonald's, I decided to tell her that I was going to go home because I didn't feel safe in the situation. I gave her 20 minutes before I left and when I left she acted like I was in the wrong. She decided to get a hold of me a couple days later and tell me that she wrote me down for abandoning my job. This is totally not fair and honestly I felt like I was in danger! I will probably never work for A costa family McDonald's ever again! I feel for the people who still work for her but I'm glad that I am no longer in the situation to work underneath someone who genuinely does not care about their employees or their safely.!

You were 100% correct...and this is coming from someone who's been in HR nearly 10 years. Call HR immediately. If you get nowhere with them, call your state labor commission, the FDA, the Department of Labor, the BBB, and possibly even the EEOC. You should call OSHA, too. I'm sure they would LOVE to hear this story.
