Ask for a "Mental Health Day" or just "call in sick"

I was just reading this article

https://www.forbes.com/sites/denisebrodey/2020/02/27/omg-people-are-asking-for-mental-health-help-at-work-now-what/#11fe6e0b681b

about how some millennials are asking for a "Mental Health Day". I'm wondering what Jobcasers think. When you need a day off to deal with something and aren't sick, do you

  • ask for a Mental Health Day
  • or are you afraid of the stigma and just call in sick?

Hi Karen Murphy , I'm in agreement with much of this article. Employers should contribute more support services and time off benefits for encourage sound employee mental health.

Folks today are working more hours and accounting for more on the job responsibilities than ever before. Labor cut back's, layoff's and employer financial soundness concerns are some of the major contributors to the lack of resources in the workplace.

Supporting employee mental health inspire tremendous advantages to employee moral, workplace culture and retention.

Nice quick read and great find Karen Murphy , thanks for sharing!
