Advice

So I'm in urgent need of a job with the minimum acceptable wage being $15 an hour. That will allow me to pay all my bills and live. The problem is that I have been drifting around trying to find a place I fit for the last eight years. I've gone back to school to try and make myself more marketable but it seems that my attempts at raising my value have been for not. I have a degree in business, honorable discharge from the Marines and various experience from a range of jobs. I'm currently working on degree in communications but, with a spotty employment history, it seems I've shot myself in the foot. Any advice or leads would be great.

I’ve had more jobs than my current age . When I go through temp agencies, I am usually asked, what wage do I want and what is my bottom dollar. Also, going through temp agencies helps open doors if you happen to have “A Lot of Work Experience “, plus they take out your taxes and you get paid once a week.

Hey Estephen Hartsuck , great question! Longevity in the workplace isn't as highly regarded by the employment community like it was in the past. Employers today are more focused on an applicants skills and ensuring the candidate(s) selected make a good cultural fit.

Keep on developing more in demand skills and work in that training in to your career story. Always make sure you customize your work history and experience so it aligns with what employers specifically say they want on the job description.

Take a moment to upload an updated copy of your resume onto your Jobcase profile then click on the 'Jobs' tab and update your work preferences. Let me know when your done and I'll forward you some job leads and hiring events that meet you career goals. Your on the right track... Keep It Up!

The VA is starting a new program VET TEC. Also. Look on indeed.com look into security jobs, which could help you out and pay your bills. Depends on what you did in the marines, there are companies looking for military experience and protective detail
