How many days a year should someone call in sick to work?
This is an interesting interview question I found on an apprenticeship website today. How would you answer?

Hi, this phyllis Mabe 4 times .How many times did u called in being sick in a yeat

i know that with different companies there are different rules the last few jobs i have had they always said that at 10 absences you were gone but i watched as people would come in late from the day they started and in my last job 3 lates equalled 1 absence and they were never let go or penalized for being late for years. if i were to answer for certain tim i would suggest that you try and stay below 5 and that they be 5 really good reasons for having absences. like your kid is sick and you are a single parent kind of reason not simply there is a new movie showing and you want to see it. but also look at the other people in your job department if they have multiple absences then maybe the attendance at your company is more lax than most and you could get away with having more absences, but i would still stay below having a lot of absences and definetly nothing as much as a year working with a number of absences equal to a full 30 days of absences that looks bad for you and bad for the company.

A typical healthy person only once or twice a year.

Not more than the days you're too sick to come into work, or authorized by management.

People Should try and never call out from work

No more than 2

Well me myself is not a big fan on calling out from work even to the point I'm sick and know I'm not able to work I go in anyway so I'm really not sure

0-3

A flu or a cold a few days. Any major issues should be supported by a doctors note. I went 5 years without being sick then got a virus, lost 20 pounds in 5 days and in bed 10. It also is based on the committed employ, if they never took advantage I am ok with it.
In 15 years I only called in sick twice. Both times I was in the hospital, (Once was work related). Don't do it if it isn't necessary, in other words, the answer to that question is "You shouldn't do it unless it's absolutely necessary", or "None if it can be avoided".
