Not the position i interviewd for

I left my job last month after my GM screwed me out of $1600 in commissions in ONE day. I had some capital saved up to last a few months. I've applied at multiple jobs and had a few interviews that didnt go anywhere. I'm switching career fields, so I understand. I've been in leadership positions in almost EVERY job I've had. So, when I interviewed today for a night super spot (local manufacturing plant that pays decent) I was pretty excited. Knock interview out of the park, as always, HR is DYING to get me into the night super spot to get the team motivated and moving. What happens? Ops super decides, nah, put this man in the lowest spot, with the lowest pay, with the unskilled labor teams. (I grew up doing construction, was in the military, I have plenty of skilled labor abilities). I took the job because, well, lifes expensive. It's the opposite of the job I interviewed for, and is $4 less an hour than the position, and it's the day time shift that has some raunchy hours. I need the job, but I'm highly upset with the outcome considering I'm more than qualified. What would y'all do?

First of all, WHO was the one who offered you the night super to begin with? And what authority did the ops super have to over ride the original position? If it was ME, I'd go back to HR or the person who offered me the night super position and let him know that that was down right demeaning and ask how he can lower my status like that after being told I was getting a better position with a better pay. How can he just snatch it out from under me. And how he can allow some one else who hasn't met me and knows NOTHING about my skills, work experiences and my capabilities to feel like he can give me any position he feels like giving me. That was not only rude but insulting!!! I would demand to be given the position in which I was first promised or I walk!! That is what I would say and do!! That was insulting and very unfair. I wish you the best of luck and I hope you get it back!!

Take it until you can find something better. Some of us on this list have been looking for permanent work for over 2 years. Good luck.

Sounds to me that you were a threat to the Supervisor/Shift Manager. Unfortunately people with whatever power they pissed will and can make it harder for the next person. I have to say, do the job well and show them who and what you are but do keep looking. Something better is always around the corner, then, give it to GOD. He will make a way for you. Good luck.

accept it, get over it, keep hunting. it's all competition, maybe someone is more experienced than you are. Or he/she has same level experience, but accepted lower pay.

Here's the good news. If you have a documented commissions sales plan, and if it was endorsed by you and GM, and you could prove performance against that sales plan, chances are you'll get your $1,600 commission check. Happenned to me in Missouri, and I got paid all my commissions 3 months after I was let go. That's Missouri, though. Plus I kept copies of purchase orders because I didn't trust my employer to play right. If you are still unemployed, reach out to your nearest Law School's Clinic and ask them for assistance in writing a "demand letter" for you. Cheers....

A lot of businesses promote from within first unless there isn't someone qualified enough but manufacturing the best people are the ones that lived the floor level and section supervisor.
