Is my past employers saying things about my work that I had done for them, that might be neglecting my possible employment?
According to Goodwill Industries I was fired because of attendance issues. I had a serious car accident on October 7, 2024 in which I had 3 broken ribs, a concussion and 21 stitches above my right eye. If I had done what my doctors told me to do about work, we wouldn’t be talking about this. I returned back to work 2 weeks after the accident, when I should have taken a month off to heal. I worked my ass off for that job. The day I was fired, I wasn’t given a reason, except for the attendance issues by the regional manager, not in person but over the phone. I knew I was in the wrong, but I called my store and talked with an assistant manager and told her that I would make up for being late and work til close and be into work as soon as could. She said that would be alright. Not even 30 seconds later, the regional manager called me to end my responsibility of being at work.

I am screwed either way especially with Goodwill Industries. I wish I never worked there. All they are problems to me and my chances on getting a job, period.

Thank you for response, Daniel. The problem is I don’t want to lie to companies that I apply to. If I say that my issues were to blame for my for my problems with that job, the companies will throw my resume in the shredder in a second

The problem is if I have to explain my situation with having to work at Goodwill. No one is going to hire me because of attendance issues

It's important to address any concerns about what past employers may be saying during your job search. One way to approach this is to reach out to your previous employer to understand their perspective on your work and reasons for your separation. Additionally, focus on highlighting your dedication and hard work in your previous roles in your job applications and interviews. Consider seeking support from professional career coaches or services like Goodwill Industries or other job search providers such as Jobcase to help you navigate this situation and present yourself in the best light to potential employers.
My apologies for my response
