Administrative Assistant

Been Downsized since June 24, 2017
I was part-time at my previously company and did not have any health insurance for 7 1/2 years, at the age of 55, I decided to take care of my health during my time off. I had a major surgery in January and was not not released until the end of March. I have had 3 interviews physically and 2 on the phone. I am still waiting for one response on the phone and also still applying for employment. I can't understand why I don't have a job with my 20+ years of experience as an Administrative Assistant. Is it my age? Somebody talk to me and see how I can overcome this problem.

Hi Marina,
I'm happy to hear that you are healthier! The job search is unfortunately much longer than we would ever like it to be. That's the bad news. The good news is that you are getting interviews! 5 interviews is pretty good - there are many people who can't get that many in 5 months!
You have tons of experience, so I'm sure you will be able to find something soon. There are some companies that are discriminating potential employees due to their age, but there are many who need your experience and skillset!
Be sure to use strict examples on how your past experiences can apply to the roles of the jobs you are interviewing for.
Please let me know how else I can help!
