2nd Interview update
Well...it wasn't what I expected. I met with who would be my immediate supervisor and the safety manager. They said they just wanted to meet me and it wouldn't be as grueling as when I met with the Operations Manager. I was there for 1/2 hour, and they touched on some things on my resume. They seemed excited to see that I had had Six Sigma training and said I would be pulled in on a lot of projects since there would be three of "us" who had the training. I took that as a good sign. There are some things I wish I had said and some I wish I had said differently. They asked what salary I was looking for and how much notice I would need to give my current employer. I was hoping to leave with an offer but I was told during the first interview they would have to get it approved by corporate and it might take a while. So, should I give it some time and check in? The interview was Thursday so how long should I wait?
Thanks

That sounds pretty good Rhonda. We all think of things to say afterwards - thats normal, don't dwell on it. It sounds pretty good overall! nice job! I'd say give it 4 business days and check in - but be sure to write a thank you note this wknd first. in the note reference something you learned in your conversation that suggests it'd be a great fit for you and sounds like a place where you could bring a lot of value to THEM. But, don't put your eggs in one basket. No matter how good you think an interview went, keep applying to other places until one comes through with the offer you like! Good job! enjoy the wknd, you are on the right path! Fred
Rhonda, good job! I know how my company works and it is exactly as you have described. HR makes a telephone interview, a second interview is done with management and peers on site. Notes are taken and recommendations are given to the eventual hiring manager who theoretically is neutral since you have never spoken or met. I have my fingers crossed for you. Send your thank you note and follow up on Tuesday if they don't. A company who is genuinely interested will check in with an applicant to ensure that the applicant's interest is sincere and that the competition hasn't poached the prospective hire while a hiring manager is sitting on his hands. I wish you well.
