Benton, AR
I am new to the area and I have been to several interviews and as soon as I mention that I am fresh out of rehab and trying to get my life in order no one is willing to give me a chance. Anyone have any input or suggestions? Or does anyone know someone in the area that is hiring?

Angela, there are numerous addictions, certainly I have my share. But it is my personal business, and few others will appreciate why or when, unless they are a recovering addict themselves. If they are a recovering addict, then they know that 90% will relapse soon. And if they are true to themselves, then they know that we all can abstain if we choose to...I like the one day at a time plan (27 years now).
There may be a community center there in Benton, or certainly the nearest large city (Little Rock), where they deal with these issues regularly. Get hooked up with a crisis center and the community centers, and seek out counsel as to this dilemma you're having.
If they are not a recovering addict, and have never done excessive amounts of drugs and alcohol, there is absolutely no way they could ever empathize with us. "They are weak and will probably destroy everyone around us" have been the words I've heard many say.
So please listen to Tim and myself. Hold that to yourself until you're hired. Then only disclose it with the company psychologist. Speaking of AR, a couple of bad eggs rolled out of there and wreaked havoc across America. The new governor has done an excellent job of restoring the economy there, so you should get steered in a positive direction, the more populated areas you look into. Of course, there's always Walmart. We only have 30,000 people in our town, and we got one. Well, I guess they're every 5 to 10 miles. Respectfully, Philip M Brockman
