20 to 30 applications, no response
Looking for a stockroom associate job. I’ve been applying everywhere, but I haven’t heard from anyone. What’s even more annoying is that I keep getting emails from companies that they’re hiring. What gives?

Any chance you should be using a temp agency http://www.indeed.com/jobs?q=forklift&l=Newburg%2C+NY

Not interested,not relocating

I've done the same thing it's been 9 months and still don' t have a job

I can think of a lot of possibilities. Did you turn in a resume with the application? Did you make sure the information you provided was what they were looks for in the posting? Do you meet the minimum requirements for the job and did you make that clear in the application? Did you provide up-to-date information? With the number of applications received for every job that opens up it is imperative that you hit all points so your resume is not kicked out because it does not match the job posting or it does not meet minimum requirements for the job. If you are cutting and pasting information you need to make sure that you update and spel check. I have seen a lot of applications kicked back because the applicant did not want the job bad enough to update his information. The last thing I am going to ask is if you gave permission for a credit check when you applied. If you apply for a job in a stockroom and you have a bad credit score it will count against you.

There is no face to face human contact anymore. They only see what's on paper. Can only apply online, very impersonable.

Nearly every place requires the on-line application. Now, it is time to go in and inquire about the application as follow up.

don't apply online. go to the stores hiring and ask to speak to the msnager. interview with them and you will get the job unless you have some issues that you have held back.

Many companies budget hiring at certain times of the year. The articles I have read (of course you never know the agenda of the person writing the article) claim that the first 6 months of this year was not good for jobseekers, but that the last 6 mos will be wonderful. The job market operates the same as the school year for some recruiting firms. I can already see a shift in the aggressiveness of the recruiters, trying to fill jobs and schedule interviews. During the summer, they could possibly get by without a job being filled. Luckily for me, I've used this setback as a great opportunity to build my freelancing business! :) :) :)

Could be a number of things: Did you submit a resume too? I checked over a friend's resume recently when she had similar experience, no responses and her resume of was FULL of type-O's, misspellings and formatting was off. After I corrected her resume, she actually received a job offer on the very next job she applied for. Also - make sure you list that salary/hourly wage is negotiable.
Edward, Make sure you are making follow up phone calls to see if the application has been received and where it stands in the process. Ask for the name of the individual who is doing the hiring. Contacting them shows that you are really interested and have initiative. Good luck.
