Not Happy

So I have worked for a security company for nearly 3 year's and have put up with alot of crap. I have never just walked out of a job until now. When i first started this job they said family first if i needed certain days off for my kids Dr. Appt. They said just try to give them plenty of notice I'm a single mom working a full time job i got 5 kid's and for awhile it was great even after my original company was baught out then we merged with another company and i transferred to another area and my supervisor told me last week that i am not allowed to ask for specific day's off even though it was for a Dr Appt for my kid and i was giving him 3 1/2 week's notice of when the appt. was and that did it. I refuse to work with a supervisor that Want's me to put my kids last. Not going to happen ever. So now im trying to find a new job closer to home. And its not working out very well. I keep getting told I'm over qualified or we went with another candidate. What can I do?????

Laid off need work

If you're consistently told you're overqualified maybe look into applying for jobs that require more experience in your field. It's not really a bad sign, just means you're moving on up! Hopefully higher up positions will be more understanding when it comes to family responsibilities.
