Job Offered, Offered Rescinded
After a phone interview and face to face interview I was offered a job, I was called and offered the position. I hadn't heard anything since last Thursday when I accepted the offer so I decided to email the recruiter. Her reply was "we have decided to go a different direction". Very unprofessional to not at least notify the person you offered the job to and explain why (technically they don't owe an explanation but it still would have been nice). Anyone else have that happen to them? There was no background check done & references were not contacted.

This type of interaction is becoming all too common. It demonstrates a complete lack of professionalism and common decency toward our fellow human beings.
At this point, there is no point in pursuing answers from them, but, I would look up the company on glassdoor.com and leave a review about the practice so that other applicants can be made aware of their questionable integrity.
Additionally, make sure that you are not the victim of a scam. Ensure that the company to which you applied was legitimate and did not scam you to obtain personal information from you such as your social security number and other personal identification information.
