Truckin ain't easy
If you want a balanced life I think you have to get home most nights and eat dinner with your family or at least get home. That’s what a 9-5 job provides. There are some truck driving jobs that allow that, but most of us over the road haulers do not have a balanced life in my opinion. Of course everyone has an idea of what they want their life to be like. To me, a good day on the job is lots of miles, drop and hooks, and being able to get to the truck stop early to find a spot and have a nice clean hot shower followed by a good meal. What makes it a really great day is if I am going to make it home that night after being away 12 to 19 days on the road.

Trucking is honestly extremely easy for me. I had a video game addiction as a teen so I’m used to sitting for hours on end. All day everyday. I also have a tendency to find ways of changing things I don’t like. My hands are sore while I drive? I use a hand grip and now I can apply 90 pounds of pressure with both hands. Back is sore? Got a massager and started stretching every day and while I drive. Arms look like noodles? 20 pound dumbbell. Can’t do 10 push-ups? I make my stops and pull out my perfect push-ups and do them right outside the truck before using the restroom. Having a balanced life is extremely easy if you’re willing to make corrections where they’re needed. Too many people are afraid of what other people think like my co driver. I say go jump in a hole.

I have a "home most nights " job. I thought the same as you when I was otr. However I found out that the grass isn't greener. The schedules are tighter. You get less rest driving home and back to work. I may have 8 1/2 hrs to sleep , eat and to shower. It's better but it's not that 8-5.

Is the money good

I don't drive or have a license. I live in the middle of nowhere I just need a job that I can get to on pedal bike or foot.

I understand. I'm dating a truck driver. It's hard. I'm trying to find a job that works with his overnight hauls. So we can be half way on the same schedule, to see each other. Just moved back to Oregon, from north of Seattle. Now, he's hauling up there more than i lived there. Lol.

The Trucking Industry & their MBA's Management made "Drivers" jobs horrible micro-managed sweat shop like.....now surprised they can't find anybody to work for them. Driverless Trucks coming to rescue.

BUT SOMEBODY GOTTA DO IT....
